Macrame Keychains

Supplies

1. Macrame Spring

2. Swivel Clasp/Metal Cara Biner

3. Scissors

4. Tape

Instructions

Step 1: Tape the top of the keyring to your work surface.

Step 2: Take one of the cords and bend it in half, bringing the ends together.

Step 3: Pull the loop under then through the key ring.

Step 4: After, pull it down again to rest it over the metal. Then insert a finger through the loop to gather the two end cords and pull through the loop. Repeat 3 times.

Step 5: Grab the two cords, place them over the middle cords to form a loop that looks like a 4.

Step 6: Take cords on the right and place over the left. Notice the point where the left cords are crossed over the the middle ones.

Step 7: Pull the right cords under the crossover, and through the loop you made with the left cords.

Step 8: Pull the ends of the two cords in opposite directions and move towards the ring to form the first half of your square knot.

Step 9: Now make the same exact knot, only this time, pull the cords on the right to form the loop over the middle cords.

Step 10: Place the cords on the left over the right cords. Pull the ends under and through the loop you made.

Step 11: Tug the ends of the cords to tighten the know. Secure the second know right under the first one you made.

Step 12: When you are happy with the length, grab some more string and with one of the ends facing up, pull the other end to form a U-shape over the cords.

Step 13: Holding the U-shape in place, bring the other end of the thread around and wrap it around the last square knot to bunch all the cords together. Continue to wrap it around until you’re happy with the thickness.

Step 14: Grab both ends and tug in opposite directions to secure wrapping in place. Finally, snip off the two ends and trim cords evenly.
