It’s Not Luck – It’s God
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5
Do you believe in luck?
Maybe you have your own small superstition, like wearing the same stinky socks to every game because your team won once while you were wearing them, and now you fear washing them might wash the luck away too.
Maybe you even wear a special piece of jewelry because you believe it brings you luck.
Let’s face it: Many of us have believed that certain things or routines could somehow influence outcomes.
Why Believers Don’t Need Luck
My daughter has a friend who once got a tattoo because she believed it would bring her luck. But after several unfortunate events, she decided to have her tattoo removed because she felt it was bringing bad luck instead of the good fortune she expected.
What a powerful reminder that looking to anything other than God for “good luck” can lead to disappointment.
If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you do not need luck.
After all, we serve the Creator of the universe, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
If He is for us, who (or what) can stand against us? (See Romans 8:31)
Ladies, we’ve got God on our side!
God Is Already There
We know trials and hardships will come. John 16:33 reminds us of that truth.
Yet instead of fully trusting God with the outcome, we sometimes cross our fingers, carry a special coin, or repeat little rituals, hoping they hold power.
But here is the truth: God is already there and knows what is going to happen next.
He is already at the end of the game, knowing whether you win or lose.
He is already in the doctor’s office, fully aware of whether the report will bring relief or difficulty.
He is already at that meeting, trip, event, or family reunion.
He goes before you in all you do, and every outcome unfolds according to His will.
A Reminder of Where Hope Comes From
This week at Sheologie, we created Bible charms during our Tuesday DIY gathering. The ladies loved decorating the spines of their Bibles with colorful beads and words such as “Jesus Is Lord” and “God Is Good.”
These charms serve as reminders that every good thing comes from God alone!
As you go through your day, take time the thank God for every blessing He has placed along your path, whether small or great.
And when someone says, “You’re a lucky girl,” answer confidently:
“It’s not luck – it’s God!”
Until next time, shine bright, sisters-
Not for praise, but for the One who saves.
