Steeping In His Presence
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”
Psalm 1:2
Do you prefer coffee or tea?
I love them both, but if I had to choose just one, I would pick tea.
There’s something about holding a warm cup of tea (or coffee!) while sitting down for quiet time with the Lord that just makes the moment feel complete.
Wisdom Shared: Learning From Others
Recently, our longtime friend of Sheologie, Beth Shields, came and taught us how to steep the perfect cup of tea.
Her love and passion for tea were evident in every part of her demonstration, and it was something every woman in the room enjoyed.
As I listened to Beth talk about the process of making the perfect cup of tea, I couldn’t help but think about how beautifully it can remind us of our time with Jesus.
You can’t rush the process.
You have to give the tea time in the hot water for the flavor and benefits to fully develop. If you pull the tea bag out too soon, you may still have a cup of tea, but you haven’t allowed it the time it needs to become all that it was meant to be.
Be Still
Isn’t that sometimes true of our time with Jesus?
We can squeeze in a quick prayer while we’re getting ready, listen to a worship song in the car, or read a verse as we rush out the door.
And those moments matter.
But there is something different when we intentionally slow down and sit in His presence.
When we sit with Him, open His Word, meditate on what He is saying, and allow His truth to settle into our hearts, we begin to experience the fullness of what comes from spending time with Him.
Steep
Beth shared a few verses during her tea demonstration that I think pair perfectly with a warm cup of tea, and an unrushed moment with Jesus:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10
“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:14
“Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7
These verses remind us that God’s presence isn’t something we have to chase.
He invites us to be still, receive His rest, and bring our worries to Him.
So today, steep yourself a warm cup of tea or brew yourself a perfect cup of coffee.
Find a quiet place, open your Bible, and choose one of those verses to meditate on.
Take the time to steep in His presence and allow His Word to soak into your heart.
Until next time, shine bright, sisters-
Not for praise, but for the One who saves.

I love tea. The ceremony of tea, the sharing of tea, the warmth and calmness it brings.
This gave me a new way to look at and enjoy tea.
Thank you!
