When It Seems Impossible – Week Two: Bank On Big Promises
“But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26).
There are many times where God fulfilled promises in the “impossible” throughout the Bible. For example, the time where Moses was called to free the Israelites and was put in what seemed like a dead-end, but God. He split the sea to let them pass. Think about when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to conform. Nebuchadnezzar threw the three into a fiery furnace, proceeded to turn it up 7x more than its’ usual heat, but God. God was with them, and they remained unscathed. Finally, let’s not forget the most important of them all. God has called you by name, and He has done the impossible by taking on our sin -a price that we could not pay, but God. God defeated death itself so that way we can live in union with Him and His will. Let this be encouragement for you, and a reminder to make room for God to move.
Bank On Big Promises
During an interview, Franklin Graham asked about Bob Pierce’s belief in the “God room” principal: “‘God room’ is when you see a need and it’s bigger than your human abilities to meet it. But you accept the challenge. You trust God to bring in the finances and the materials to meet that need. You get together with your staff, prayer partners, and supporters, and you pray. But after all is said and done, you can only raise the resources required. Then you begin to watch God work. Before you know it, the need is met. At the same time, you understand you didn’t do it. God did it. You allowed Him room to work.” Why would God call you to something if it were impossible? Paul says, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us” (2 Cor. 1:20). If God has called you to it, then He will get you through it.
Reflect
Meditate on 2 Corinthians 1:20.
Ask yourself: What in your life feels impossible to you right now?
